Mexican amber from the Chiapas region has been known since ancient times by the Indians. Its formation has been classified between the Miocene and the Oligocene, between 23 and 26 million years ago. Mexican amber is the product of legumisone trees belonging to the genus Hymenaea. The particularity of this amber is the blue-green fluorescence when placed in the long wave UV light.
