The quartz is a mineral composed by silicon and oxygen (SiO4) that crystallises in the hexagonal system. It is a stable mineral with hardness 8 in Mohs scale The name smoky quartz comes from its resemblance to the color of smoke. These dark shades are due to exposure (natural or artificial) to gamma rays, or to the presence of lithium or aluminum.
In the past, in the Italian Alpine regions, it was thought that smoky quartz kept bad luck away. This mineral is still considered today to provide support during adversity, producing a relaxing effect, while still contributing to having a clearer and more pragmatic vision.
