Garnets include a large group of nesosilicates that share a common chemical formula, among the different species some miscibility can be detected. This mineral is part of the cubic system and has a hardness of 7-7.5 on the Mohs scale.
Demantoid garnet is a yellowish green variety of andradite, the name refers to the shine similar to that of diamond. This variety of garnet has a high dispersion of light that once faceted releases the yellow-orange reflections that distinguish it from other green stones.
