The word corundum is attributed to the origin of the ancient Sanskrit "kuruvinda" which would mean "very hard stone". Corundum crystallizes in the trigonal system, its crystal habit is prismatic or bipyramidal. This is an allochromatic mineral, that is, if it is found pure, it is colorless. Its chemical composition derives from aluminum oxides (Al2O3).
For example, in green corundum, the elements causing it are transfers of iron-titanium charge and the presence of chromium.
